(First sermon delivered in 2017 at his Sunday School session, serampore by my son - Jaira Lalnunpuia Khiangte, who is 11 years old)
First of all, I thank God and also thank to our Sunday school teachers – for giving me this opportunity to share the words of God.
I will begin my short sharing by reading the scripture which is found in Psalm 111: 10
Now, let me read Ps 111: 10 -The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom

According to the psalmist, beginning of the wisdom is – the fear of the Lord.
All of us will want to become a man of integrity who has the quality of being wise ( that is –wisdom). Therefore, if we want to become a wise man – we must fear the Lord.
But, how does ‘the fear of the Lord’ meant to us? OR what is the meaning of ‘the fear of the Lord’?
A number of suitable answers are provided by the scripture itself.
Ps 34: 11 says – “Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.” Then the following verse tells us how we shall become ‘a man who fear the Lord’ –
i) Keep your tongue from evil,
ii) Keep your lips from speaking deceit.
iii) Depart from evil,
iv) Do good;
v) Seek peace, and pursue it.
To conclude my short sharing, I want to mention some ‘benefit of the fear of the Lord’
The benefits of ‘the fear of the Lord’ are found in Proverbs;
i) Prov 10:27 says - The fear of the LORD prolongs life, but the years of the wicked will be short
ii) In Prov 19: 23, we also see - The fear of the LORD is life indeed; filled with it one rests secure and suffers no harm.
iii) Prov 22: 4 also tells us - The reward for humility and fear of the LORD is riches and honour and life.
May God bless us all through this short sharing.
